Schola: Wednesday Family Music Program
Schola (meaning “school”) is a Wednesday evening children’s music education and choir program at All Saints Church, led by our own members. Designed to develop musical skills that enrich Sunday worship, Schola also offers dinner and fellowship for parents, creating a meaningful and enjoyable evening for the whole family. Who is Schola for?
Classes are held for students up to grade 6, however, there is something for everyone to be involved with at 4 pm! See details below. We are still looking for teen and parent volunteers.
Schola Goals
- Learn how to read a choral music score
- Prepare choral music for offertory during worship service
- Learn vocal technique
- Learn music terms and skills
- Prep Choir - learn to read music using Kodaly methods
- Junior choir - focused more on their choral music
- Students will work toward being a Junior Choir member
- Develop an appreciation for beautiful sacred music

All participants should plan to arrive at 3:45 pm for class, and then dinner will be served at 5:15 pm.

- A mom with children in the Schola program:
- meet in gathering room for tea time and fellowship with other women (infants included)
- help in the kitchen (on a rotating basis) to prepare dinner for all
- help in the classrooms
- A mom with a baby 0 - 18 months old:
- Participate with your baby in “Mommy and Me" MusikGarten class
- Participate with your baby in “Mommy and Me" MusikGarten class
- A mom with a child 18 months - 3 years old:
- Participate with your child in older MusikGarten class
- If your child is happily independent for class…
- you are welcome to join tea time
- help in the kitchen (on a rotating basis) to prepare dinner for all
- help in the classrooms
- A child 18 months to 3 years old
- Participate in the older older MusikGarten class

- Participate in the Preschool Schola Class

- Participate in the Junior Choir when criteria is mastered and you graduate to being a chorister.

- Continue to work through the levels of mastery (Chorister, Graduate Chorister, Advanced Chorister)
- Continue to work through the levels of mastery (Chorister, Graduate Chorister, Advanced Chorister)
- A teen 15-20
- Unchanged voices may continue to sing with the Junior Choir
- Those who have mastered the levels required may be chosen to help assist in the Junior Choir
- Volunteer in the kitchen on a rotating basis to help with evening meal
- Note: Teens invited to sing with the Adult Choir later in the evening. Eventually, sing with a teen choir later in the evening.
